Why 2008 May Be the Best Year For a Work From Home Business

These are uncertain times for workers, as we continue into the strange new era of globalization. Gone are the days of company-funded pensions. You then have corporations using outsourcing and cheap labor sources from half-way around the world to help them keep profit margins at record levels. The availability of cheaper overseas labor has permitted most businesses with the luxury of capping domestic wage growth at 3% or less per year for the past several years. With little to no job security and globalization leading to both lower wages and the loss of our good jobs, how can one survive or even thrive in such a hostile environment? At the end of the day, the best way to secure your financial future in the age of globalization is to have your own work from home business. Right now, there are five important reasons why 2008 is a perfect year to start a small business: 1. Income Unlikely to Rise in 08 and Beyond 2. Small Businesses Thrive in Global Market 3. Lower Interest Rates 4. Unlimited Opportunites 5. You Control Your Future Don't expect more than a 3% raise any time soon--in fact, many employers are already employing wage freezes and even reducing compensation packages. Indeed, globalization is not just some word on the evening news--it is here, it is inevitable, and it is already changing everything. Outsourcing and job flight will only intensify as corporations seek to capitalize on cheap labor supplies regardless of its overall effect upon the average Western worker. End result--wages won't be climbing beyond the 2-3% level any time soon. We can't count on corporations which is why it is so vital that we own a small business in order to survive, and even thrive, in today's competitive global marketplace. Believe it or not, small work from home businesses with a solid core and the capacity to rapidly adapt will thrive in the quick-paced, niche driven global market. Global competition increases the need to lower costs through outsourcing, while also creating an unprecedented number of opportunities for creative yet organized small businesses. But while globalization is forcing larger companies to cut payrolls, small businesses are booming and now produce the largest percentage of new job growth in the U.S. Jobs that are eliminated internally still need to be filled, and this is where so many of the small business opportunities are coming from. As this trend continues, work from home businesses and other small enterprises will become the last true refuge for anyone looking to get ahead. An infusion of capital is necessary to both start and operate a new business venture. Hard economic times tend to coincide with low interest rates and great opportunities for small business owners to secure cheap capital. A weakened American economy has caused economic troubles around the planet leading to lower interest rates and a prime time to secure some cheap capital for a worthwhile new business start-up. Although somewhat cliche, the fact remains that the Internet is still the largest single opportunity for small business owners. But the Internet is also filled with a lot of scams and schemes out there, and it can be difficult locating legitimate business opportunities. Sure, they may be difficult to find with so many scam artists out there too-- but there are still more opportunities to start a legitimate and profitable small business than ever before. Unless you want to see your purchasing power diminish in coming years, it will be almost essential to have some form of work from home business.

The pressures of globalization will only cause outsourcing and job flight to intensify causing more and more of us to consider starting our own business or working in some service industry job for less money. Like all things, however, all small business will either succeed or fail. Work from home businesses only succeed when their owners are willing to invest the time, effort, and patience necessary to grow and develop properly. Businesses still fail even when their owners give it their best effort. Avoiding illegitimate opportunities and choosing viable ones is often the key ingredient in determining the overall success or failure of any work from home business.
