How To Put Your Cool Computer Videos On The Net

So you have a cool video that you shot, and you think it would be neat to put it up on You Tube or even other places. If you have a funny video of a friend wiping out while skateboarding, or snowboarding. Or just a funny video of someone, even you signing so out of tune the cats are howling! First you want to make sure that you have it edited good. Most all desktop computers can be used for video editing, just as long as you have the following things on it. You need a FireWire port that the camera can be connected too, if your computer does not have this option you can easily buy the FireWire card and install it yourself for a cost of no more than $100. You also have to make sure that your CPU has enough power, and enough hard disk space available, and a bus bandwidth that can handle the data that will be flowing through the FireWire cable. You can usually see if your CPU will match the requirements by checking out the FireWire box when you purchase it. To process videos you will use a lot of your CPU power, and be moving a lot of data on and off of the hard disk. If you have a slower computer this is a place where you will notice that slowness, or the fastness of a quicker computer. If you're going to be doing a lot of different videos, you might want to think of upgrading your computer and making it faster. This will pay off in the long run. You will need to render the movie or write it onto your hard disk. Here again you will notice if you have a faster computer, this process will take all of a few minutes, but a slower machine will take several hours. When you are transferring data from the camera to the FireWire cable, your computer and hard disk must be able to have the capability to keep up with the camera, or you will possibly lose frames.

The same can happen when you are transferring the information back to the camera, the processor needs to be able to get the data streamed quickly or the camera will possibly lose frames. If you're looking into the software you need to edit a video on your computer, there are many different choices. Windows XP actually has this ability built into the operating system. Machines that come from Sony and even Apple also have the software with the machine when you purchase it. You can also purchase software, or even use a free demo version of Adobe Premiere. This is a free demo that will work on both PC's and Mac's; it's full-featured, and very highly touted by many who need to use video editing. Of course you will have to learn the proper ways to edit you're hopefully 'bring you to stardom' video. But with a bit of practice you may be able to turn that video into a professional looking piece of work.
